LOCATION BIO

The Torrington Nardelli’s opened for business in 2017 and proudly offers their customers a wide selection of grinders, desserts, and salads. Among all their delicious food options available, the Italian Combo and the Barbecue Bacon Cheddar Chicken grinders are some of their most popular choices. They also sell select Italian grocery items and fresh cold cuts by the pound – perfect for creating your kitchen masterpieces!

In addition to being the only Nardelli’s in Litchfield County, one of the unique things at this location is their “Local Favorites” board. On this esteemed board, specialty grinders are named after prominent community members and businesses to celebrate and honor their contributions to the local area. It’s a fun way to mix some new and fresh combinations in with Nardelli’s well-established and beloved grinder menu. Who knows? One of the “Local Favorites” may become your new go-to grinder! Don’t forget that Nardelli’s also offers catering options too (for any size and budget) and they can usually fill orders with only a 24-hour notice.

In addition to creating great tasting food, this Nardelli’s location loves and supports the local fire department as well.  They happily fill hungry firefighters’ bellies during their muscular dystrophy Fill the Boot fundraisers, and partner with them during their Toys for Tots drive. At the Torrington Nardelli’s, you’ll get a real sense of community and enjoy the hospitality of the welcoming family atmosphere as soon as you walk through the doors.

Once you are inside, you can enjoy your meal relaxing by the fireplace, or you can reserve the large community style table for your next big family get-together. Whether you are looking for that perfect lunch spot or doing some grocery shopping, the Torrington Nardelli’s is the place to go. We are now even open on Sundays! Come in today or order from our mobile app!

OWNER BIO

Elizabeth Begley owns the Torrington Nardelli’s location. Liz is a Torrington native, and she learned about Nardelli’s from her brother Thomas who owns the East Hartford location. Once Liz began to help out her brother, she soon fell in love with the business. The industry was exciting, she enjoyed cooking, and getting to know the customers was great – it was something she could see herself doing for the rest of her life.

Once Liz decided to open the Torrington Nardelli’s location, she left her stable 30-year nursing career to pursue her dream. Liz comes from an incredibly close family, so Nardelli’s commitment to treating their franchisees like family made leaving what she knew (her safe place) and undertaking this new venture, feel right.

You may find Liz’s mom, husband, or her two daughters helping her out at the Torrington location. It is indeed a family business, and she is enjoying watching her dreams come true with them by her side!

I have grown up on the Italian Combo grinder - nothing beats it no matter where I've been (I even have friends overseas who crave them). I live out of state and always get one when I come home or have one delivered when my family visits. I've known the entire Nardelli family my whole life as well and in my opinion they are the nicest and their product is the best.

Superior Italian Deli: Upscale/NY Deli type of atmosphere. EXCELLENT pastries! Try the cheesecake burrito, a little piece of heaven. Premade salads are large & great. Fresh, tasty fare.

After reading about Nardelli’s in CT Magazine we had to eat there. We immediately realized why Nardelli’s has won the Best Grinder in the state so many years. The food is simply delicious… it tastes as if made with love and pride. Their special sauce is fresh and tasty and you can’t find it anywhere. The staff is friendly and warm and makes you feel part of the family. The ambiance is clean and comfortable… it feels just like home. We moved away from Connecticut some years ago and whenever we go back we always have to visit Nardelli’s. We can’t wait until they open a franchise near us.

My first job was at Nardelli's. They made me feel like family then and now 20 years later when I go in for one of their incredible grinders, they still make me feel like family.

Just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed my recent two visits to Nardelli’s---One on Plank Road and the other on Watertown Avenue. The choices were too many ( hard to decide )---the food was fresh and delicious, but best of all was the personality exuded by the help. I was particularly impressed that it was equally reflected in both stores. Obviously your training is spot on. I will return.

The people are the friendliness and the Panini sandwiches are the best! I wouldn’t want Grandma to know this…Nardelli’s sauce is just as good as her homemade sauce and I don’t have to cook or wash the pans

My favorite thing to do on Saturday’s ( in the 50’s ) was to go with my friends to Nardelli’s downstairs, where my mother worked ( Sylvia G. ) with Freddie and Joe and get a grinder ( a whole loaf of hard crusted bread) a soda and chips. Then we hitched hiked our way back home to Hamilton Ave and ate our grinders on the front porch and listened to the baseball game.

I am grateful to have been part of the history that made Nardelli’s and Waterbury the greatest memories I ever had while growing up.
